What You Need To Know About Your Dog's Health

Don Krnel

Like people, dogs need to be healthy to enjoy life. Dogs are our friends, companions and often our guardians, but since they are also totally dependent on us for their well-being, it is our responsibility to look after them properly.

One of the most prevalent 'diseases' in dogs these days is one that also affects humans. Obesity. A fat dog is an unhealthy dog and is likely to suffer from arthritis and heart failure. Remember, in the wild dogs eat fresh meat that they have killed themselves. They also eat certain types of grass and may eat wild fruits like berries if these grow in their natural habitat.

Milk, custard and cake are the worst things you can give your grown dog and, though a puppy may benefit from the calcium in milk, there are commercial milk products available that are especially formulated for a puppy's needs.

Dry dog food, or kibble as it is sometimes called, is said to have all the nutrients that your dog will need for health, but the dearer brands are often better. Dogs fed on cheaper brands may constantly chew grass to supplement whatever is missing from their diet.
A healthy dog should have a smooth, shining coat, clear eyes and a moist nose. If your dog's breath is disgusting, it could be due to the tartar on its teeth. Chewing on a big bone will help to clean your dog's teeth.

Regular worming will also help to keep your pet in top condition. Shots for distemper, heartworm, parvovirus and kennel cough are a must. Kennel cough is not likely to be a problem unless the dog is kept on cement. Your vet will need to administer the shots, but you can worm the dog yourself. The tablets should be pushed down the side of the dog's mouth until he swallows. If this is too difficult, crush the tablet into some tinned dog food and offer when the dog is hungry. Luckily, it is not transmitted to humans.

Symptoms of distemper include runny eyes and a dry nose. If your dog drags itself along the ground in a sitting position, suspect worms immediately.

Fleas, which will happily jump from dogs to humans, can be another problem. These bloodsuckers can actually kill a tiny puppy, simply through blood loss. Always be sure to keep kennels and yard clean to reduce the flea problem.

If you live in a tick prone area, be sure to keep a tick collar on your dog at all times. Your pet's life may depend on it! Grass ticks cause itchy lumps that can become infected when scratched. Luckily, the tick vaccine works well and quickly and can save a dog that looks like it is gasping its last breath.

Hello all you wonderful people out there. If there is one subject that affects every one of us that is our health. What is the best way of taking care of our health?

Let’s take a brief look at some of our options for taking care of our health.

Some people believe in preventative measures for taking care of their health. What exactly does this mean? Basically, it means eating a healthy diet, exercising properly, and living a healthy lifestyle. A yearly check-up is also a good way to know what shape you are in and to catch any developing illness.

An unpleasant factor in modern life is stress. It is a fact of life. Fortunately, there are many ways to deal with stress. Conventional medicine is one method - relaxation medication. Meditation is another method. In between there are such options as daily rest (even if for ten to twenty minutes), spending part of every day in a soothing physical environment, taking a break, a change of scenery, a vacation. A good laugh, whether at a funny joke or at a comical situation is highly recommended for keeping your mind and body in good shape.

None of us is infallible. We are all prone to illness. What are our options when we do become ill? Again there is conventional medicine. Medication for practically every illness under the sun is available.

Personally, when something out of the norm is detected on my blood test, I make a bee line to the dietician’s office. By eating those foods, those vitamins, required by the body, balance can be regained.

There is more than one way of doing things. You decide what makes you feel good and how you want to stay healthy. After all, health is wealth.

Health And Retirement

In planning for your retirement, buying disability, health or long-term care insurance is important. The insurance company would usually want to know a lot about you. You will be classified based on your habits, medical records and family history.

You have to have an understanding of your own health. The biggest factor in determining the insurance cost is your health.

Here is some advice from insiders to get the best health ranking possible at lowest possible rates:

1. Tell the truth

Hiding some facts on your health will not help you. First, the insuring company will eventually find out because they do have your records. They will presume that the problem is serious, since you did not mention it. Worse, withholding info the company regards as important could lead to the cancellation of your policy.

Give the insurance company your complete health history. But do it under your own terms. For example, don’t just say that you have high blood pressure. Inform them that you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure several years ago and have kept control of it.

Give them complete information and reduce the uncertainty, then eventually you would get a good deal.

Be careful on how you say things, a hesitant answer would seem that you are hiding something. Be as clear as possible with your replies.

Ask what the ranking is based on. There would generally be criteria in determining the health ranking and it varies from one company to another. Determine your ranking in a specific company and why. This helps you get a better picture and hopefully and decrease your premium. Canvass for the best rates possible but know that the rate is just one consideration.

2. Your doctor can help.

Inform your physician. Insurance companies would want to talk with your physician and look at your records. If not that, they would at least look at your records at the Medical Insurance Bureau.

Your best move is to inform your physician that you’re applying for insurance. A forewarning helps in ensuring that the insurance company gets noticed and gives you in return a favorable rating.

Ensure that the company gets a complete record, especially if you have moved from one doctor to another. The insurance company wants all of your health records to get a complete idea of your state of health.

Inquire discretely. Too much inquiry might raise a red flag on you. Try to get an agent to do the shopping for you. Choose your insurance broker carefully. Just like other professionals, they’re not created equal.

Health And The Economy

We normally do not think that health is related to economics other than with regard to the costs of medical care. But there is another more fundamental way money impacts our wellbeing. If you could not pay your bills or had to worry about where the next meal would come from, would you be thinking about health, or survival? When we are trying to stay alive moment-to-moment we don’t think about food choices, supplements, organic farming, animal welfare or environmental issues. Those considerations are a “luxury” dependent upon economic capability. But they are a luxury we must have if we are to live a reflective life and survive on planet Earth. Without a robust economy, you can pretty much forget about people being environmental, health conscious, or even civil to one another. In starving nations, war is endemic, disease rampant and the environment is only a raw material to be ravaged to hopefully live to the next day.

The emerging world economy will ultimately place great economic stress on the United States. It already has. Thousands of jobs are being lost to overseas companies employing workers requiring a fraction of the wages demanded here. People in America increasingly try to maintain a standard of living through debt. This is great for all the banks popping up on almost every street corner, but bad for the people. Just in the past year there have been almost two million personal bankruptcies declared.

To compete in the marketplace, companies must keep their costs down. If that means shifting manufacturing elsewhere, that’s what will be done. India, China and other Eastern rim countries are the beneficiaries of this shift in manufacturing and labor pool. While American workers are clamoring for things to return to the way they were with high wages and generous benefits, workers in developing countries are happy as can be having a job for five dollars a day.

This trend will not go away with “buy American” banners or political rhetoric about treaties, minimum wages and outsourcing. The global economy is here to stay and that will mean the American standard of living will retract and the developing world’s will improve. Expect a decline in the standard of living, falling wages and investment insecurity.

Government is not the solution, since it produces nothing but only takes. Government saps an economy, it does not create it. The more that government is hands off, the better the economic vitality. A robust private sector economy (environmentally responsible), on the other hand, is not the enemy as it is so often portrayed, but is critical to financial vitality. Capitalism is not in itself a demon since it merely provides the mechanism for prosperity and with that the opportunity for a society to focus on matters of health and altruism. It works well if ambition and hard work, not merely greed, are its tools.

The inevitable decline of our standard of living is an inevitable and irreversible trend for the foreseeable future. It should concern us not because we want to see American super abundance continue, but because those who are unaware and get caught as casualties in this economic downturn will suffer in so many ways. The world is no longer business as usual.

Good health is not just about diets, supplements, organic foods and aerobics. It’s also about being safe, like driving carefully, not standing on the top of a stepladder, wearing safety glasses when chipping stone...and working hard, keeping our financial house in order and supporting societal choices that do the same.

Life is not surety, and neither is our economy. Nevertheless, hard work and prudent management will never be replaced and is as close to security as we can ever get. It, not entitlements and guarantees, is what ultimately creates the financial footing we need for good health and a sustainable, better and more peaceful world.

Men Health Problems: Why You Should Be Concerned With Men Health Problems

Men health problems aren't just the concern of men anymore. If you think about it, a man's health can have a huge effect on a lot of people in a family. Consider the situation where the man of the house is the primary breadwinner. He's working to support a family of two kids and a wife, and the wife is a stay at home mom. In the event that he gets ill and can no longer work, the family income drops to zero. The mother may be forced to get a job to help make ends meet, and the kids won't have money for incidental things like school field trips and sports equipment. Depending on how long he's out of work, the family may have to sell their house or declare bankruptcy.

In the men health problems situation outlined above, the family could be left destitute. Fortunately, I'm not the only one who has thought of such a precarious position. In fact, there are entire industries that have popped up in the event that something like that happens. Today, you can get insurance that will help to support you and your family when you are too sick to work. You pay a few dollars each month for the insurance, but it isn't too expensive and the piece of mind that goes along with it more than makes up for the cost.

If you have this special insurance, men health problems won't be such a big worry for you any more. Best yet, if you have this insurance and get so sick or injured that you can never work again, you'll be covered for the rest of your life. It can really be a good investment, and if you haven't heard of it you might want to look it up.

Men Health Forums - A Valuable Resource For Mens Health Advice?

One of the most valuable resources a guy has today is online men health forums. Unlike the days before the internet, now if you have a question about your health you don't need to ask your doctor first. This can be a real ego saver, since a lot of health questions can be embarrassing to ask. Nobody likes to talk face to face about their neither regions to a guy who is almost a complete stranger . Now, with the online health forums, you can ask people without them ever knowing who you are. There's no embarrassment, no hassle and people are usually very friendly on the forums. They can be a great way to get more information about a particular topic from people who are familiar with it.

One of the drawbacks to using men health forums for information, as opposed to going to your doctor, is that you can never be absolutely sure if the information you're getting is correct. For example, if you ask about the different treatments for foot fungus, you can get lots of suggestions that won't help you at all. Even when people who reply to your thread claim to be a physician, you can never be positive that they really are. On the other had, if you go to your doctor you know the advice you're getting is worth following.

All in all, when it comes to men health forums it's a mixed bag. There are plenty of benefits, but if you don't know what you're getting into you can end up following bad advice. I suggest checking them out if you have a question that isn't very serious in nature. For instance, you can ask about which exercises can help you build your triceps the fastest but I wouldn't suggest relying on a forum to tell you how to treat cancer.

Choosing A Health Care Provider For Your Pregnancy

Are you planning a pregnancy? The information in this article may be of help in choosing the appropriate health care provider for your pregnancy. Today there are several options available to expecting parents. The health care provider you choose can make a big difference in your experience. The nature of your pregnancy and personal preferences can decide which type of health care provider is best for you.

Four sources of health care providers are:

• Obstetrician
• Family physician
• Maternal-fetal medicine specialists
• Midwife
An obstetrician-gynecologist is the traditional caregiver for pregnancy and birth. These doctors specialize in obstetrics and gynecology and are commonly referred to as OB-GYNs. They are trained to handle all phases of pregnancy. Phases of your pregnancy would be:
• Preconception planning
• Postpartum recovery
OB-GYNs specialists also can help you in the prevention and treatment of other conditions affecting women’s health. OB-GYNs often work in group practices which include a health care team of nurses and other medical professionals.
A few reasons why you might choose the services of an OB-GYN are:
• You already have an established relationship with an OB-GYN
• You have a pre-existing medical condition, such as diabetes, high blood pressure or an autoimmune disorder.
• You are a woman at risk of developing complications during a pregnancy such as gestational diabetes or high blood pressure (preeclampsia).
• You are carrying more than one baby.
• You want the reassurance you won’t need to be transferred to a different health care provider if an unanticipated problem arises such as the need for an emergency C-section.

A Family Physician provides care for the entire family through all stages of life, including pregnancy and birth. A Family Physician receives adequate training and will have the experience to manage most pregnancies (unless of course he is straight out of Medical School, in this case, he will have at least the adequate training). They also will be able to handle minor surgical procedures for vaginal delivery. A few Family Physicians are very capable of performing C-sections, but most do not. A Family Physician may work alone in his or her practice, or they may be part of a larger group practice that includes a team of nurses and other medical care professionals.

A few reasons why you might choose the services of a Family Physician are:

• You have an established relationship with a family physician in which you are comfortable to allow him to tend to your pregnancy and aftercare.
• You and your Family Physician do not expect any problems with your pregnancy.
• You want the same doctor to care for your entire family
• You want continuity in care from prenatal appointments throughout childhood and beyond.

Maternal-fetal medicine specialists are professionals skilled in the advanced care for high-risk pregnancies. They are also called perinatologists or high-risk obstetricians. Maternal-fetal medicine specialists often work in group practices and function mainly as consultants rather than primary obstetric care providers.

A few reasons why you might choose the services of a Maternal-fetal medicine specialist are:

• You have a severe medical condition complicating your pregnancy. If you have an infectious disease, heart disease, kidney disease or cancer, you might be a candidate for consultations with Maternal-fetal medicine specialists.
• You have had pregnancy complications in the past or recurrent pregnancy losses.
• You are a known carrier of a severe genetic condition that may be passed on to your baby.
• Your baby is diagnosed before birth with a serious medical condition.

A midwife is an attentive caregiver in low-risk pregnancies. They provide preconception, maternity and postpartum care for women at low risk of complications during pregnancy. Midwives are guided by the principle that pregnancy and birth are natural events. They in general offer a low-tech approach to the birth process. They cannot perform C-sections and may not be licensed to administer drugs or anesthesia should you have the need.

There are several types of midwives in the United States. They include:

• Certified nurse-midwife: These are certified nurse-midwives who are registered nurses. They have completed advanced training in obstetrics and gynecology and have graduated from an accredited nurse-midwifery program. They also are required to pass several certification exams. They are certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM).
• Certified midwives have a nursing degree and are usually trained in other areas of health care. After meeting the same standards required for certified nurse-midwives they are certified by the ACNM.
Many midwives practice their profession alone. They may also be a part of a group practice, such as a team of obstetric care providers.

A few reasons why you might choose a midwife are:

• You are in good health and do not expect any problems with your pregnancy.
• You prefer an in-depth interaction with each prenatal visit.

Before you consider a midwife be sure he or she is associated with a doctor or has a backup arrangement with a hospital in case complications arise. It is important to create an emergency plan with your midwife if you are not giving birth in a hospital. The details you should include in your emergency plan are:

• Name and number of your midwife’s backup doctor
• The hospital you will be taken to
• How you will be getting to that hospital

The goal of your search for the right health care provider during and after your pregnancy is to find one you can trust to safely guide you and your baby throughout the entire process of pregnancy, labor and delivery.

Some of the questions you need to ask yourself before deciding are:

• Does the health care provider listen to “your” concerns and provide you with helpful answers to your questions that you fully understand.
• Is he or she comfortable with your views on pregnancy, childbirth and medical care?
• Can the health care provider you choose deliver your baby in the place you want to give birth?
• Who will care for you if the health care provider you choose is not available in an emergency or when your labor begins?

Filing Your Advanced Health Care Directive

An advanced health care directive is a document that allows a person to make sure their health care wishes are fulfilled in event of an illness or injured that renders them incapable of communication. The two types of directives popular in the United States are living wills and health care proxies. A living will is a document where you state exactly what type of health care you want or don't want under specific circumstances. A health care proxy is also called durable health care power of attorney is a document that name a specific person who has the power to make all your health care decisions if you are incapitated. If a person wants you can register both a living will and a health care proxy with the U.S. Living Will Registry. Having both will help clear up any confusion doctors might have about the living will and the living will should help the person with durable power of attorney feel more confident about their decisions.

People file advanced health care directives for a variety of reasons. Some claim that knowing there is a written record of their wishes gives them piece of mind. Health Savings Accounts And Chiropractic Care

How you can use a Health Savings Account to pay for chiropractic care and many other forms of alternative medicine, while saving on your taxes.

The healthcare industry in the United States is dominated by the culture of conventional Western medicine. And health insurance caters to those who control the industry: medical doctors and hospitals. There is a long history of prejudice against chiropractic by medical doctors, which is one reason that chiropractic care is not often covered by health insurance.

Many research studies have shown that chiropractic care is beneficial and that it is more cost effective in the treatment of low back pain and other common musculoskeletal conditions than traditional Western medicine is. Chiropractic also lowers health care costs by focusing on prevention, was well as on treatment.

It is surprising that health insurers choose not to cover treatment that is as beneficial and cost effective as chiropractic care is. Studies have continually shown that individuals who seek the care of a chiropractor on a regular basis are healthier and, generally, spend less on health care than those who do not.

Chiropractic Care and Consumers

What is not surprising is that consumers are wise enough to see the advantages of chiropractic care. Many people prefer to see a chiropractor simply because they see tangible benefits from the care they receive. Many others are disillusioned with traditional Western medicine and the healthcare system, and they look for alternatives such as chiropractic care.

It is clear, both from patient testimonies and from clinical research that consumers benefit from chiropractic care. Unfortunately, they may have difficulty affording chiropractic care because it's often excluded from healthcare insurance policies.

Health Savings Accounts can help consumers afford chiropractic care, even when it is excluded from their health insurance policy. They can pay for chiropractic care and other alternative medicine with pre-tax dollars by using a Health Savings Account.

Many chiropractors keep their costs as low as possible in order to make chiropractic care more available to consumers. They can, however, only absorb so much of the cost of providing that care. Another way chiropractors can help clients gain access to chiropractic care is to encourage the use of Health Savings Accounts.

Health Savings Accounts and Consumer Choice

The combination of a Health Savings Account and a High Deductible Health Insurance plan is supposed to encourage individuals to become thoughtful, wise consumers of health care. The individual is spending more of his or her own dollars on healthcare, so she will be more concerned about how those dollars are spent.

Health Savings Accounts give consumers more choice in how their healthcare dollars are spent. Money in the HSA must be spent on approved medical expenses, but there are really very few restrictions on what kind of healthcare you choose. More and more chiropractic patients are discovering that having an HSA is saving them money on their medical expenses.

Traditional health insurance has gatekeepers and controls. Even when chiropractic care is covered (not typical on individual plans), the individual requesting chiropractic care may be required to go see their family physician (or gatekeeper) and get a referral. Not all medical doctors will refer to chiropractors. If chiropractic care is covered on the health insurance plan, and if you can get a referral (which amounts to permission to see the chiropractor), there may be limits to the number and types of treatments you can receive.

Using a Health Savings Account to pay for chiropractic care gives you, the consumer, more choice. You can choose what type of medical treatment to get, where you will get that treatment, and how many treatments you will get. You can spend HSA dollars on preventive care as well, and actually have the government give you a tax deduction for keeping your family well.

Common Anxiety Attack Symptoms

First and foremost, we have to look at the definition of the panic attack, which is defined as a very sudden and a very unpredictable period of intense anxiety, which can become much more serious as the attack gets a hold on you. They include things like a feeling like your stomach is burning, plenty of discomfort as well plenty of cognitive and somatic effects which are unpleasant and sometimes unbearable. There is no way to predict when and where you will be experiencing these attacks, and sometimes, they can even come when you are completely at peace with the world. The order or sequence before an attack is quite the same, where the body will respond to a set of conditions that can or cannot be felt by the individual.

What happens is that the hormones in the body, especially the hormone adrenalin floods the entire body and there is nothing you can do about it. People who have suffered the attack describe it as one of the most frightful and the most horrible feelings in the world, and the horror mainly comes basically from the fact they seem very helpless at doing anything. They have been mistaken for heart attacks, flashing visions and you may even feel like vomiting. Before we discuss the symptoms of the anxiety attacks, there are many triggers and causes that you need to know about.

One of them is that these anxiety attacks are basically down to genetics and that they are passed down from parent to children. So there is nothing that you can really do about it. However, there are some cases in entire families with no sort of history of panic attacks, and then a single person will contract it with no reason whatsoever. Of course, there is also the biological causes that you need to think about – and there are a whole host of diseases and symptoms like hypoglycaemia and thyroid problems that can cause panic attacks. Anyone who has problems with phobias and fears for a long period of time will then be more prone to panic attacks as they would be triggered by fear. Some of them also include things like medications that they are taking, as some of them can trigger the chemical reactions necessary for an onset of a panic attack.

So these are some of the things that can cause anxiety attacks and now we shall look at some of the symptoms. They include a whole host of palpitations, plenty of sweating, shaking, feeling that there is something in your throat. Also, there might be stomach problems, feeling like there is acid reflux in the belly, dizziness and pains in the head. There is also many psychological problems like uncontrollable fear and feeling of being helpless, a fear of dying and hot flushes. During the onset of the attack, your heart will be in overdrive and you feel like you are having a heart attack. These are some of the major symptoms of a panic attack.

How Does Provillus Work to Reverse Hair Loss?

Jeffrey J Smith

Provillus reviews agree that it is the best hair loss product on the market. If you understand the real cause of hair loss and what hair needs in order to grow, you can easily see how Provillus gets to the “root” of the problem.

Provillus uses a two front approach to solving the problem of hair loss: an all natural herbal supplement and a topical lotion. First of all, it addresses the main reason for hair loss: the build up of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) on the scalp. There are many reasons why everyday life causes DHT to accumulate: stress and anxiety, consuming too much caffeine, dehydration and more. Although it is virtually impossible to eliminate the causes from one’s life, you can successfully block DHT itself with the all natural herbal supplement provided by Provillus.

Saw Palmetto is the main ingredient in the all natural herbal supplement. It is widely known as the best DHT blocker. And the supplement also contains a slew of other nutrients vital for hair growth. Clinical trials have proven that you can simply take the pill twice a day and DHT levels on the scalp drop dramatically.

In conjunction with the supplement, Provillus has a topical solution to apply twice a day as well. It needs to be put on a dry scalp for maximum effectiveness. The topical solution contains 5% Minoxidil (the only FDA approved substance for hair loss treatment) as well as alcohol, propylene glycol, and purified water to counteract hair follicle shrinking on the scalp.

Minoxidil is the main ingredient in every successful hair loss product, although alone it does not do anything to reduce DHT. Propylene Glycol is also clinically proven to promote hair growth. Having these two ingredients makes Provillus the most potent hair loss product available. Some products contain only two or three percent Minoxidil and no Propylene Glycol at all.

To get to the bottom of hair loss, you must understand two things: A good DHT blocker is needed as well as the best available ingredient to promote hair growth: Minoxidil. Provillus is the only product that addresses both concerns. And it shows in Provillus reviews and testimonials by real customers.

If you stick to the recommended treatment of taking the supplement capsule twice a day and applying the topical solution to a dry scalp twice a day, you are guaranteed results. Some people see more hair in as little as 5 weeks. And of course Provillus includes a 90 day money back guarantee for all customers. The product works so well and there is so much confidence in it, that it is easy to include this guarantee.

What Good is Lutein?

If you’re wondering; what is lutein used for, you’ve come to the right place. Until recently, its most common use was as a natural coloring. It would be added to foods to impart colors ranging form yellow to orange-red, depending on the amount that was added. It imparts these colors, because it absorbs blue light.

It was also used to fortify chicken feed. A chicken’s skin is not naturally yellow, unless it eats lutein-fortified feed. A fortified diet, of this kind, also results in eggs that have a darker yellow, nearly orange, yolk. The lutein that is present in eggs is a result of chicken’s eating fortified feed. Chickens do not naturally produce it. It is produced primarily by plants.

As long as fruits and vegetables are consumed, it is a nutrient included in the human diet. It is just one of the reasons that eating fruits and vegetables (other than white potatoes) is so important.

If you are wondering; what is lutein doing in nutritional supplements, the answer has mostly to do with the eyes. Inside of the eye is the retina. Light receptors called rods and cones are found in the retina. These are nerve cells responsible for transmitting signals to the brain and receiving signals from it.

Each of the rods and cones contains a membrane composed of protein and retinal or Vitamin A. Vitamin A deficiencies can cause blindness, but a more common problem, night blindness, is due to a lack of it in the diet.

Another component of the retina is the omega3 fatty acid called DHA. It is the most abundant fatty acid found in the retina, as it is in all nerve and brain cells.

Within the retina is found the macula, a spot in the back of the eye, responsible for central vision. A high concentration of lutein, along with zeaxanthin, is found in the macula. If you were wondering what is lutein, because you have seen it in a health supplement, zeaxanthin was probably another ingredient. Zeaxanthin is the dominant pigment in the central macula. Lutein dominates in the rest of the macula.

Both are members of the carotenoid family of pigments. Beta-carotene and lycopene are also carotenoids. Beta-carotene is converted within the body to vitamin A.

At one time it was believed that only beta-carotene was important to healthy vision. Now, it appears that the other carotenoids are just as important. If you ate a salad containing spinach, broccoli, romaine lettuce, carrots and tomatoes, you would get a mixture of all of the carotenoids. If you took a health supplement, you might only get beta-carotene. You would have to read the label to be sure.

You could be wondering what is lutein because your eye doctor suggested it as a dietary supplement. You may be at risk of macula degeneration, an age related eye disease that can result in partial or total blindness. It is believed that supplements containing a variety of carotenoids, along with other vitamins and minerals may reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration. That covers what is lutein. Maybe you should learn about the other nutrients that are important to good vision, for life.

Ordering Your On Line Prescriptions

Antonio LeMaire

Many consumers are curious to know how online prescriptions are filled, and what documentation is necessary. While this can vary from pharmacy to pharmacy, the process is much like at your local drugstore. Most people are surprised to hear that filling an order for medication online is simple and quick, and still thorough.

If you want to know what you can expect when using an online pharmacy, look at the basic information below to get you started. Remember that all businesses have different practices, and these processes can vary depending on if you are ordering your online prescriptions from a pharmacy in Canada or Mexico.

Transferring a Prescription

The process for transferring a prescription between a retail store and an online pharmacy is not much different than transferring from one retail store to another. You can even transfer online prescriptions from one online pharmacy to another. The reason there is not much difference is that retail pharmacies use a computer system to transfer the information about you and your medications back and forth to each other. In the rare case that you have a “controlled substance” medication, you sometimes need to take the physical prescription slip to the new pharmacy to have it transferred. Otherwise, you have probably noticed that the pharmacy staff takes care of the rest.

The process usually goes something like this. The new pharmacy calls or transmits a request for information to the old pharmacy, and receives the information back regarding your medication, dosage, and the physician who ordered it. When all that information is verified, your online prescriptions are filled. The practice that most pharmacies use is streamlined, and your prescriptions are usually filled without a need for the doctor to be called or otherwise contacted.

Filling a New Prescription

Having a new prescription filled from an online pharmacy may be a little trickier. As mentioned earlier, certain medications require that the prescription slip be submitted directly to the pharmacy. How is this done with online prescriptions? In this case, you will probably need to place your order online, and then follow up by mailing in your prescription slip to the address the pharmacy gives you. Your medication will not be mailed out until this is received and verified by the online pharmacy in most cases.

With online prescriptions that are not controlled substances, you can most often simply place the order online. The pharmacist filling the order will call or fax your physician to verify that the medication was prescribed for you, and the order will be filled. This is how most pet medication and contact lens companies do their order fulfillment.

Renewing a Prescription

Perhaps the easiest way to order medication is to have it renewed. Some pharmacies will automatically renew your online prescriptions when the proper time has elapsed. For instance, they may automatically ship your birth control pills every 25 days or so, and may charge you via stored financial account information. If you wish to set up an automatic renewal such as this, the prescription will need to specify that it has refills left, and you will most likely need to allow the pharmacy to charge your card each month without reentering the information. When a prescription has no refills left, the pharmacy will contact your physician to verify that you may continue with the medication for another month.

Ordering online prescriptions for medication is a lot like ordering pet meds, or even contact lenses. The providers of the medication or medical devices will need to verify your need for them, either by contacting your physician, or previous pharmacy, or both. Practices will vary depending on which online pharmacy you use, though they will all work to ensure that you are receiving the medication that you need.

As you can see, the process of ordering online prescriptions is not at all that different than ordering at your local retail store. In some cases, the prescription may get delayed if you need to mail in the slip the doctor gives you, but you can also avoid this by asking your physician to write your prescription for 6 months at a time. This way, you only have to mail the actual slip in twice a year.

You can be sure when purchasing your online prescriptions that you will receive personalized and attentive care, maybe even more so than you would with the pharmacy around the corner. You can certainly order with confidence when placing your health care needs in the hands of a website.

Beauty Tips - Choosing The Right Dental Floss

Debrah Dragon

Flossing your teeth is as important as brushing is. Dental floss actually helps clear out pieces of food that may be left between your teeth. However choosing the right dental floss for your teeth is imperative but not a difficult task.

When it comes to oral care, dental floss is one of the top recommended tools dentists recommends for keeping your teeth healthy and clean, this is of course after the toothbrush. However, you may think that just any dental floss will do. The reality is, you have some things to consider when looking for the right dental floss.

Keeping your teeth healthy, clean, and your overall mouth in good hygienic condition is crucial to proper oral care, therefore, your dental floss makes all the difference in the world. There are thousands of different kinds of floss available, you will see this when you go to purchase one, however, one floss might be better than the one next to it and vice versa. No two people's teeth are the exact same, so what works for someone else, might not work for you.

With that being said, here are some things you need to consider when choosing the right dental floss.

Space – The space between the teeth has a big impact on the type of dental floss you use. Remember, no two people have the same teeth; this applies to spacing as well. If you have very little spacing with your teeth, you will want to choose floss with wax; this will allow easier access and be more pleasant at the same time.

Those with wide gaps should be choosing floss with tape. This kind of dental floss is both wider and thicker, allowing you to floss more efficiently and easily than you may experience with waxed floss.

Strength – If you have problems with floss breaking when using, you will want something that is more durable and sturdy to floss with, again, floss with wax is good for this situation.

Taste – The last thing you want to do is put something in your mouth that tastes bad, right? Then you should consider flavored dental floss. Flavored dental floss has extra benefits. Not only does it help clean your teeth, but it also freshens your breath at the same time.

Reach – Some people have a hard time reaching their teeth to implementing a floss regimen correctly. These people may require special devices that allow them to floss easier and more efficiently, such as power flossing.

You certainly have your choices when it comes to dental floss in your oral care regimen. You can choose from nylon or waxed floss, corded or polymer floss, and even old fashioned or high tech flosses, you definitely have some decision making to do.

The floss you choose will really depend on the type of teeth you have. If you are looking for a stiff floss then a nylon floss is great and works well when it comes to removing grease from your teeth. On the other hand a waxed floss is smooth and works great when it comes to removing sticky substances from between your teeth. When flossing your teeth you don’t need to be very quick about it, just make sure that you take your time and floss all the areas that you can reach.

How to Convince Your Husband to Get Liposuction

Men have traditionally had it easier than women in the personal appearance department. When a woman has some extra weight on her, that usually makes her less desirable. But, it seems like lots of middle aged guys have a paunch to them, and no one really seems to comment.

Well, your husband's expanding girth isn't desirable to you at all, and you really want him to get liposuction. You've tried to get him to cut back on the beer drinking, knowing that beer really packs on the weight. The only six pack your husband has is sitting in the refrigerator.

You've tried to tell your husband that him getting liposuction would do you both a world of good. He should just consider all of the extra energy getting that weight off would give him, and how handsome you'd find him again. So far, your husband hasn't been listening to you at all. He says that if you weren't so much of a nag to him, maybe he'd cut back on the beer drinking, and the liposuction wouldn't be needed at all. Despite having said this, he has started doing some research about the procedure.

He's found out that liposuction is a surgical process in which an incision is made below the navel, so any scarring would not be very obvious. A long metal tube is inserted into the layer of fat that has formed. The tube is attached to an electrical pump, which literally sucks the fat out.

That sounds absolutely disgusting to him, but still, the idea of losing some weight and looking a few years younger because of it remains pretty appealing to him. Would it really be possible to lose weight without dieting and working out? Technically it would, but no reputable cosmetic surgeon would perform the procedure without some effort on his part. The ideal candidate for this kind of procedure has already tried diet and exercise for at least a year, but with little success.

Great. Well, your husband figures that he might as well find out what the risks and downsides are to this kind of surgery while he's at it. The surgery itself takes about two hours to complete, and results are not immediate. The midsection will be swollen and bandaged to allow the incision to heal. People might or might not experience certain side effects after the procedure. Although the surgical room itself should be completely sanitized, a home is not, so infection might set in.

Also, while the surgeon should be as meticulous as possible, there is some risk of nerve damage being done. What this basically means is that you wouldn't be able to have much, if any, feeling in your midsection anymore. Then, of course, there is the issue of cost. This procedure definitely isn't cheap, so if you actually go through with it, you had better be prepared to pay several thousand dollars. As you sign up for the gym membership, you think about how your wife should be proud of you anyway!

Explaining IVF Procedures

Pensacola couples that have been through the gamut of infertility testing and treatments will sometimes find themselves at the end of the road and nearly out of options. This may be where more high tech procedures come into play, such as those used by assisted reproductive technology or ART. These procedures can take up where the others leave off, allowing more Florida couples to savor the sweet flavor of victory with a healthy baby.

One of the more common types of assisted reproductive technologies is IVF. IVF, also known as in vitro fertilization, has been around since the end of the last century, with the first "test tube" baby being born in 1978. This procedure has been able to offer hope and success to many couples who simply didn't respond positively to other types of procedures. IVF can be used for many different situations, including a low sperm count or other types of male infertility, blocked fallopian tubes, cervical mucous problems and immunological fertility problems. It is also commonly used in the case of unexplained infertility. The process has come a long way today, offering even higher success rates to couple than it did ten years ago.

An IVF will begin with the administration of fertility drugs that will stimulate the production of eggs and increase the number that can be fertilized. Once the drugs have been given, doctors will keep an eye on the egg production to ensure that the eggs will be extracted and fertilized at the right time during the cycle. Both the eggs and the sperm are then extracted and fertilized outside the uterus, where they are allowed to sit for a day or two to form an embryo. Once the incubation period is complete, the best eggs are selected for implantation back into the uterus. If there are more good embryos than necessary for implantation, the rest can be frozen for use by the couple later or they can be donated to couples who cannot fertilize their own.

It is important for couples to discuss their preferences with the doctor prior to IVF. In some cases, a doctor will implant multiple embryos into the uterus to up the odds of success. However, this may leave the couple with the dilemma of choosing between their fertilized embryos that may develop into babies or dealing with the risks involved with multiple births. This is a time when patients and doctors want to make sure that everyone involved in process is comfortable with it.

IVF has become so successful in the past few years; it has replaced other assisted reproductive techniques like GIFT (gamete intra-fallopian tube transfer) and ZIFT (zygote intra-fallopian tube transfer). While these procedures have helped many enjoy the birth of a healthy baby, they are used much less frequently today since IVF is currently enjoying a higher success rate. Even so, less than half of all couples who participate in IVF will see positive results.

IVF has allowed many couples to achieve a healthy pregnancy and bring that long desired baby home from the hospital. If IVF sounds like the right procedure for you, check out your options in Florida fertility clinics today.

What Clinical Studies Say About Acai Berries - Everything You Need to Know About Acai By Faviano Torres Platinum Quality Author

Prior to the advent of Western intervention in the commercialization of the acai berry, the natives in the Amazon treated this fruit as something less than ordinary. In fact, in the Amazon, it is popular for its ironic moniker "the poor man's juice" and its preparation that lacks the nutritive value we appreciate called "acai-manioc porridge". However, since the launching of this product in the West and through countless research, many of its benefits were discovered and are now being paid for with good money. Here are just some results of the studies that have helped the establishment of acai berry as a superfood, both commercially and scientifically.

It has high nutritional value - In one of the studies that aimed to characterize the fruit through its nutritional value, it was found out that the fruit, indeed, has very impressive nutritional value. According to this particular study, the breakdown of nutrients is as follows:

- The antioxidant compound of the berry is somewhere between 87.87% and 88.03%.
- The lipid content is pegged at a maximum of 49.4%.
- The protein content is at the maximum of 13.8%.
- The total dietary fiber is at the maximum of 27.03%.
- The berry also has considerable polyphenol, tannin, oleic acid, and iron contents.

Clinical studies also indicate that the berry has monounsaturated acids in the form of omegas 3, 6, and 9 with amounts comparable to that of olive oil. These are known to help lower the levels of LDL or the bad cholesterol while improving the levels of HDL or the good cholesterol in the body.

The berry is also found to have a near-perfect amino acid complex which is instrumental in building muscle tissues and in maintaining the efficiency of muscle functions.

Further, it contains substantial amounts of phytosterols and theobromine. Both are known to facilitate improvement in the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

There are, in fact, more studies regarding acai berry. Most of them affirm what the marketers of the fruit and its products claimed a few years back.

Acai Berry Rewind! Know the History, Its Uses and Benefits

In the market today, products made from Acai berry are overflowing. Whether the benefits enclose health, beauty and weight, this berry has many uses. Before this berry reached the fame that it has today, having a short rewind on the history of Acai berry will help shed more light to its further benefits and allow us the opportunity to know more of its uses.

Before it was hailed as abundant in antioxidants, the aborigines of the many rainforests of Amazon in Brazil were already banking on the Acai berry for health benefits and other uses. Energy, one of the most commonly reasons why the natives there use this berry, was so useful to their tribe and their lives that without it, or the lack of it, many tasks would not be delivered on time. The antioxidants that are flourishing in this berry help them keep healthy and strong.

When people in the nearby areas came to know about the Acai berries, its story of uses and history of benefits, Brazilians exerted a great effort to have this "tree of life" accessible to them, not only for its rich juicy attribute but also because of its delicious taste. The wide history of the Acai berries transcended and enfolded culinary arts and the arts of beverages. Since the day that the rich story of these berries was uncovered, most people come to know more and more about its health benefits.

It was only in the year 2000 when the rich and interesting history of Acai berry, its history of uses and history of health benefits, had reached the Western world. Today, many thanks to the modern technology that is available in the Western world, the berry's wide variety of uses and health benefits is definitely within reach of everyone. With the several health and beauty products of the wonderful berry, its uses and many health effects will not remain a history.

Maximize Nutrients Through Food

A Superfood is a food that contains multiple nutrients, from vitamins, to minerals to antioxidants. All vital for our bodies. And for any living thing.

Let's take a tree for example to illustrate. If the tree is grown naturally outside, it will live for a very long time without needing extra nutrients. Take the same tree and bring it in your home, sooner or later it will need vitamins, the dirt in your pot will run out of it.

As for our bodies, since we are not connected to the earth, we need to physically ingest our nutrients.

Here is a list of common foods that contain multiple nutrients, and therefore provide more benefits than other foods, all in one.

-Apples
-Bananas
-Blueberries
-Oranges
-Tomatoes
-Beets
-Spinach
-Beans
-Avocado
-Broccoli
-Yogurt
-Oats
-Walnuts

There is little reason to not have a few of these readily available in your house, if they are not already around. If they are not, try incorporating them a couple at a time to get used to them.

For meat and alternatives, wild salmon and turkey seem to be of choice.

Although red wine has been said to be beneficial for its antioxidants, green and black tea are still preferable.

On the less common side, you will find flax seeds (can easily be added to foods), quinoa (a grain usually found in the healthy food section), cranberries (great for baking), raspberries (not very cheap), papaya (an acquired taste if you ask me).

Last but not least, the very nutritious Acai berry and Raw chocolate.

The Acai berry is becoming quite popular, has been featured on Oprah and is included in certain drinks and foods. Look out for the labels.

Raw cacao is still not readily available in stores. All chocolate in stores are processed and therefore loose most of nutritional value that is contained in the coco bean. To get the full benefit of chocolate you need an unprocessed chocolate.

All foods mentioned are well worth being included in a diet and should certainly be favored over a pill supplement. They are much more wholesome and nutritive.

Does it look like a lot of work? Do you feel your family might not eat enough of these foods? What if there was a way to maximize and simplify it all with a food that blends the Acai berry and raw cacao and would be delicious.

Here is a simple salad that combines some of the above foods. Toss together spinach, salmon, avocado, walnuts and cranberries. For the dressing use 1 part olive oil with 1 part maple syrup. It's simply delicious and very healthy.

What is Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome?

Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome, or PTLS for short, is a doctor-induced condition used to describe the side effects after a woman has had tubal ligation surgery done. One possible cause of the side effects of this syndrome is the decline of estrogen and the disruption of the blood passing through the fallopian tubes, uterus, and ovaries during the procedure.

PTLS has been a controversy for years stating whether or not the symptoms women have are real or just in their head. However women who have, or have had, PTLS will beg to differ.

Some symptoms include increased menstrual bleeding, increased cramping, hot or cold flashes, occasional arrhythmia (increased heart rate), mood swings, trouble sleeping through the night, tubal pregnancy, migraine headaches, loss of sex drive, dry or itch vagina, feelings of dread or nervousness, breast tenderness, headaches, changes in body or breath odor, osteoporosis, and the list goes on and on.

Since a lot of these symptoms can represent other medical conditions, it is important to talk with your doctor about what you are experiencing. You may be tested for thyroid disease or for a hormonal imbalance problem. Your doctor may also decide to put you back on birth control to help regulate heavy bleeding and painful cramps. But beware, as some birth control pills can cause you to have a tired feeling and can cause anemia in your post tubal ligation surgery status.

A lot of these symptoms are not discussed with your doctor prior to surgery and are not in the informed consent that you sign for the simple fact that most doctors believe Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome is nothing more than a myth (just like doctors used to think PMS was a myth) associated with getting older or stopping the use of birth control.

Because PTLS is considered to be an unacknowledged side effect of tubal ligation surgery, treatment is slim. What is known is if you are experiencing symptoms after you have had tubal ligation surgery, then do your research on the side effects. Once you have read thoroughly about the side effects, it may stop you from deciding to have the surgery done.

If you have already had tubal ligation surgery done, then there are still options available to you. You may still go back on birth control, or you may decide to have a hysterectomy done (if you want no more children). You may also decide to have a tubal reversal surgery done (if you decide that you do want children later on in life).

Tips on Breast Care During Lactation

Breastfeeding is a wonderful feeling that a woman can experience. It is beneficial for both the baby and the mother in several ways. But breast care is equally important. This will not only give a hygienic supply of milk to the baby but also help mother to maintain the shape and the firmness of her breasts. During lactation, special care of the breasts is required:

1. Keep breasts and nipples clean and dry during lactation. This will prevent them from becoming sore and infected.

2. Do not soak the nipples in water or let them remain moist as this will lead to cracking and infection of the nipples. Just wash the breasts and nipples with plain water as a daily routine.

3. Do not use soap to clean the nipples and areola, since this may make them sore and cracked.

4. To keep the nipples soft and supple, apply some cream or oil (except mustard oil since it is irritating). However, make sure you clean and wash off the oil or cream before feeding.

5. Clean the breasts and nipples with plain water after the feed, this will remove any milk that might be sticking to them.

6. Keep a clean piece of cloth or a pad in the bra cup to absorb the contents of milk oozing from the nipples. Make sure that the pads are changed very frequently.

7. There is no need to clean other secretions from the nipples, since these protect the nipple from infection.

8. Expose the breast nipples to air for some time every day, this will keep them clean and dry.

A very common question that arises in mind of a feeding mother is that - In case of twins whether she should breastfeed her both babies or not? The answer is yes. Twins can be successfully breastfed. No need to worry or wonder whether the mother can produce enough milk for two babies. The quantity of milk a mother produce depends on the demand of the babies. If a mother wants to save time she may feed both babies at the same time but in case she will have to find the most comfortable position to feed the twins.

How to Lose Pregnancy Pounds in a Healthy Way

A pregnancy is nature's miracle and it is an event that should be enjoyed as much as possible. After the baby is born however, things can become stressful because of the need to lose the pregnancy weight. Post-partum weight loss may seem overwhelming at first, but if you stay patient and focused, the extra pounds will melt off before you know it.

Get Rid of Pregnancy Weight and Keep it Off

The only occasion in life when it is okay to rapidly gain 80 lbs. is when you are pregnant. In fact, if you don't gain at least 30 extra pounds, it could be harmful to your baby. Therefore, it's okay to let yourself go while you're expecting because there are more important things that you should be focused on rather than weight.

But despite the fact that weight gain should not be your main concern during those 9 months, it's a hard thing to ignore. One of the greatest tips I ever heard about pregnancy weight was to eat healthy, but just eat healthy food for two. In other words, it is better to have an abnormally large chicken salad than a pint of ice cream. After all, everything you eat goes to the baby, so eating as many nutritious foods as possible is definitely the way to go.

If you're wondering how celebrities manage to deliver twins and be back to a size zero in just a couple of months, you should know that their secret is to exercise during pregnancy. You shouldn't do anything too exhausting that will make you short of breath, but maintaining a relaxing workout routine such as yoga or pilates will make a huge difference after you have the baby and you're trying to get back into shape.

Four Ways to Ensure Breastfeeding Success

Step One: Prepare Yourself Before the Birth

While there's nothing you can do to physically prepare yourself for breastfeeding (harshly rub those nipples all you want-it won't help!), you'll want to learn all you can about nursing before you try it. You don't have to become an expert, but it will help to know a few things.

Attend a La Leche League (LLL) meeting to learn breastfeeding tips from moms who've been there, done that. LLL meetings are fantastic ways to network with other nursing moms and learn about breastfeeding resources in your area.

Read about ways to ensure breastfeeding success and watch videos of how to properly latch your baby. Popular books include LLL's "The Woman Art of Breastfeeding," and "The Nursing Mother's Companion." Keep many of these how-to reference books on hand because they contain invaluable advice you can access any time.

Bookmark a few Internet websites like Kellymom.com and read over tips for a successful start. Be a sponge--learn all you can.

Find out the number of a certified lactation consultant near you. Whether you give birth at a hospital or your home, you'll want to have easy access to professional breastfeeding help.

Even though breastfeeding is natural, it's a learned process. You'll want to have an idea of what a proper latch looks like before you have a hungry baby in your arms. Trust me, this research will pay off.

Step Two: Ensure a Proper Latch

When women experience cracked, sore nipples, it's usually because they haven't perfected their latch. The sooner you get the right latch, the less time you'll be in pain.

You'll know when your baby has a proper latch. It'll feel comfortable and you'll feel relieved of milk. A proper latch is crucial to successful breastfeeding. Without it, your baby won't take in enough milk, and since breastfeeding is based on supply-and-demand, you'll make less of it.

Have a lactation consultant (LC) or doula help with the initial latch-on. Baby should have a wide open mouth when put on the breast. If her mouth is only slightly open, touch her top lip against the nipple until she opens wide. Then pop her on. Baby should take in most of the areola-not just the nipple. You should see the pink of baby's lips and see her ears wiggling, an indication of a good suck. Listen to hear your baby swallow.

During these early weeks, it's a good idea to frequently have your baby weighed to assess progress. New moms often worry if their baby is eating enough, but if she's gaining weight and you're feeding her on demand (without letting her sleep too long without nursing), then you're doing fine.

Keep your LC close by if you need a helping hand. Breastfeeding will get much easier. Never underestimate the importance of a good latch.

Step Three: Arm Yourself with Supplies

Baby? Check. Breasts? Check. That's all you need to breastfeed, right? Right. But there are many products that, while not completely necessary, can make breastfeeding a whole lot easier.

Besides for having breastfeeding books, you may want to purchase a nursing pillow. These pillows come in all shapes and patterns and can be an invaluable tool in the early days of nursing. These pillows prop baby to the level of your breasts, with no strain on your end. Newborns love to fall asleep on these pillows while nursing to their hearts' content.

Purified lanolin nipple ointment (or a botanical lanolin-free one) can be a lifesaver when you have cracked, sore or bleeding nipples.

A few nursing bras coupled with breast pads make for convenient and discreet nursing. Breast pads keep you from leaking milk all over your clothes, which is a common experience in the early days. It's much easier to change a few soaked breast pads then to keep going through laundry.

You'll probably want a breast-pump for times you may be away from baby. Decide how much time you'll be apart when figuring out which type to buy.

Since nurslings like staying near their all-you-can-eat buffet (aka Mom), you may want to pick up a good sling so you can keep baby close while being able to walk around.

Step Four: Surround Yourself with Supportive People

Know those people in your life who aren't so enamored with the act of breastfeeding? You know, those people who are offended by babies eating nature's perfect food? Well, push their presence aside for a few months.

Instead, surround yourself with people who support your decision to breastfeed. There will be times when nursing gets difficult and you'll have many self-doubts. The last thing you need is negativity. Negative people can sabotage a breastfeeding relationship with their misguided "advice."

Support yourself. Attend more La Leche League meetings and make sure your baby's pediatrician is supportive of your decision to breastfeed. If your doctor gives you grief, go see someone else.

A supportive spouse can do wonders for your nursing relationship. If your partner isn't thrilled about the idea of breastfeeding, hand out research on how beneficial it is (and how much money you'll save by not buying formula).

Now is the time to live in a pro-breastfeeding bubble. Don't let anyone pop it.

Whole Life Insurance: Basic Benefits of Whole Life Insurance

Dan Theron

Are you wondering about the benefits of whole life insurance policies? Then you may read this article and get a quick and fast insight into the world of whole lifetime assurance.

Whole life insurance comprises life assurance plus an investment fund on which you are able to gain interest. It is an insurance policy that offers life coverage and an investment opportunity to you. The investment may be in bonds or stocks. The premium you pay is divided between the insurance and the investment fund. Term insurance covers the policyholder for the duration of the policy and has no investment tied to it. Both will pay out a sum of money in the event of your death to your beneficiaries.

Whole life insurance is a good deal more expensive than term life insurance. This is because it mixes term insurance with an investment fund. You consequently pay part of your premium for the insurance policy coverage and the other part for the investment fund that gains interest.

Your years may shape your insurance choices. A person older than 50 will typically have to pay bigger premiums for a term life policy. If you are 65 years of age and older, you may battle to discover an insurance firm that is willing to sell you term insurance. A whole life insurance policy may be a better option for older people because term life insurance gets progressively more expensive as you reach 60 years of age. You may consider buying life insurance once you have children, when your family does not have a lot of money saved or if you need to cover the mortgage and other heavy financial responsibilities.

There are a few different types of whole life insurance policies available at large. Single premium whole life insurance requires one relatively large premium payment up front. The policy is then fully paid and no additional premiums are needed. Indeterminate premium is similar to ordinary life insurance except that it allows for adjustable premiums. Level premium has premium payments that are level and are expected to be paid as long as the insured survives. A limited payment policy grants you lifetime coverage but involves only a limited number of premium payments for a fixed total of years. A non-participating whole life insurance policy has a level premium and face amount, but it does not pay you any dividends. A participating whole life policy pays up dividends. Dividends are a consequence of the actual life insurance costs turning out to be less than expected when determining the premiums.

There are some basic benefits associated with whole life insurance. The insured usually pays a level premium for whole lifetime assurance which normally does not rise as the insured matures. A whole life insurance policy includes an investment fund which may collect a cash value. A whole life insurance policy can also bring in dividends. The income on the cash value of the policy can be withdrawn or borrowed against in the form of a policy loan. Ordinary life insurance is perhaps an okay option because of the tax savings. The insured has lifelong coverage without any future medical checkups unless an alteration is made to the contract of the policy.

Remember that whole life insurance mainly offers life coverage. The cash value is just an added incentive. You can make an informed decision about the benefits of whole life insurance.

The Benefits of Reaching Optimum Health Nutrition

Elizabeth T James

Because of advances in technology, many of us have sedentary jobs, sitting before desks and computers all day long, before driving home or commuting by bus or train. In between work and travel we tend to eat whatever convenient foods we happen to have on hand. Gone are the days when we walked two miles to work in the morning, two miles home in the evening, and we actually broke a sweat as we labored for our wages. When we got home; it was always to a meal that offered optimum health nutrition.

The State of Child Health and Nutrition

Obesity, including childhood obesity, is one of the biggest problems in the world today. Statistics show that our children will cost billions in healthcare expenses because of obesity in years to come. Fifty years ago, kids played tag and football and softball in streets and in parks for hours on end. Nowadays, kids of the same age sit in front of the TV, play video games or chat online. Kids used to walk to school; that’s often thought of as too dangerous today, and instead they are driven in a carpool. The only exercise they may get is an hour a week of PE at the school gym. Child health and nutrition is not what it once was.

Because of advances in medicine, we find ourselves looking for easy options to avoid exercise. Easy options – the advent of consumer choice in the last half century – also mean that our diets are worse than ever. Because of medicines, we are confident that we can stuff our faces now and there’ll be pills or shots that can be taken later in life that will fix whatever problems we’re causing today.

However, optimum health nutrition is important today regardless of medical technology. Quality of life (attaining a work life balance, for example) is a cherished notion in contemporary culture. Good diets are an effective way to improve quality of life today, rather than piling on pound after pound through bad living before finally opting for dramatic weight loss surgery ten years from now.

Eating well through optimum health nutrition will improve quality of life almost immediately. Cutting down on the food groups that you gorge on and increasing the types of food you usually avoid will balance out a person’s diet, providing more energy and enabling weight loss with greater ease than mere exercise will provide.

Balanced diet is all well and good, but what about exercise? If you’ve decided to make a few simple lifestyle changes to improve your health, such as cutting down on caffeine, dairy, fatty and sugary foods, and increasing intake of protein and vitamin rich vegetables and fruit, you will find any exercise that you do less difficult too. Those hated morning jogs or the brisk afternoon walks won’t seem as painful, and you might even have enough energy to enjoy them.

Tips for Optimum Health Nutrition

You can get tips from your local doctor or your nutritionist about optimum health nutrition. These specialists will be able to tell you which foods are best at reducing weight and which foods will burn quicker when you exercise. Optimum health nutrition won’t seem that difficult after all.

The Key to Success: Fortune Favors the Brave (and Positive!)

How to Achieve Financial Freedom with a little “Mind over Matter”

Unless you’re one of the privileged few who are born into wealth and financial stability, you’re likely anticipating a long and rocky working life ahead of you just to make ends meet. If you’re lucky, you can hope to find a stable job with a decent pension plan and a two-month sabbatical in about fifteen years. But with that life comes the forty-hour work weeks in a window-less cubicle plus the smoggy, congested daily commute for the next 20-30 years.

With this sort of unrelenting and unappreciative fate awaiting all of us good, tax-paying citizens, many have surely stepped back at some point and asked, “isn’t there a better way?”

Yes, there certainly is, according to self-made Australian entrepreneur Isha Knill. Author of the inspiring Attracting Freedom: Lifestyle, Not Life Sentence, Knill rejects cubicle life and encourages readers to instead find true fulfillment and achieve financial freedom by running their own business.

Easier said than done, right? Not if you know how to “attract freedom” with the right kind of mindset, according to Knill.

“We are surrounded by prosperity and abundance,” she says, “it’s just a matter of understanding the Laws of the Universe that govern fortune and knowing how to tap into that endless flow. If you know how to use the incredible latent potential of your subconscious mind, anyone is able to achieve financial freedom.”

Knill’s theory is that the human mind—which is only used at about 12% capacity for conscious thought and functioning—is as capable of affecting much more than the tangible world around us. Knill and scholars of holistic neurology believe that that 88% of “subconscious” brain left over has the potential to reach out and affect the intangible forces around us, much as the body is capable of affecting its physical surroundings.

It is a young field of study, and Knill does not pretend to have the answers to all the how-to’s. What she does know, and what her book focuses on, is the ability of the mind to draw success and prosperity to its owner when it is properly trained or, as Knill calls it, in a “millionaire’s mindset.”

She corroborates her theories with her own extraordinary experiences. Forced to immigrate to Australia from her native Zimbabwe due to political unrest, Knill was forced to start from scratch with little to work with. But looking around, she found what she calls “an abundance of prosperity” that she knew she must somehow be able to tap.

Years of trial and error led her to perfect the “millionaire’s mindset” that seemed instantly to draw every positive outcome she could have hoped for to her entrepreneurial endeavors. She calls this process “Attracting Freedom” and has since devoted her life to teaching others to achieve financial freedom aided by the power of their minds as she did. From the numerous and heartfelt testimonials displayed on her website (http://www.attractingfreedom.com), it is apparent that Knill has struck a chord with her positive moneymaking philosophy and hopeful outlook.

“I know there are many, many people tired of struggling and running the unending rat race. I want to tell them how easy it actually is to break free of it,” Knill says. “I want my readers to remember that they are in control of their own lives and that even if we feel caught up in a humongous wheel that society turns for us, we have the ability to take back control and make a life worth living.”

How to Interpret a "Failure"

Each human life has its share of "failures". It’s part of the human experience. Failure can mean all sorts of things to different people. It can mean that our plans have not gone as expected. It can mean a spectacular "failure" like bankruptcy, foreclosure or eviction. It can mean a minor disappointment. Some people see failure in the slightest variation from perfection. Others rationalize away colossal underperformance of their talents and abilities. Failure is what we make it to be. We can set the bar high and keep ourselves anxiously striving or we can live without standards and achieve little of what we’re capable of. To start with then, it’s important to get clear on what failure means to you and to understand how you use the concept of failure in your own life.

1.) First, take a look at how you might use fear of failure in your own life. Are you so afraid to fail that you won’t risk going after creating the life you really want? If this is true for you, you might ask yourself, "If I failed in creating the life I want, is it better to fail trying than not to try at all?" The road to success is a continuous succession of failures interspersed with corrections and successes. The only real failures are to never try at all and to give up in defeat when we "fail".

2.) How do you think of your failures? Are they shameful experiences for you, or do you consider them learning experiences? If failure is a source of shame to you, you are likely frozen in fear at any potential new risk. Obviously, this is going to limit your possibilities in life. The worst part is that it is self imposed limitation and is possibly based on your fears of the opinions of others rather than your own authentic opinion.

When we are able to look at failures as learning experiences, we are able to glean our lessons quickly, recorrect and get back to taking action. Examine these two different approaches. It should be obvious that transmuting failures into successes is going to yield much more satisfying results to us.

3.) In order to transform your views on failure, you may need to do some work on cleaning out non-supportive "mind chatter". We’ve all experienced the nagging or harping "voice in our head" that tells us everything we do is wrong. Usually these are leftover remnants of criticisms we’ve received earlier in our lives. Most of us don’t even understand these are at play in our lives.

We grow so accustomed to the "noise" that we lose awareness of its existence. We conform and constrict our lives to those subconscious limitations -- without understanding that is what we’re doing. Our fear of attracting further criticism like previous criticisms drives our behaviors in present day life. Better to evict these non-supportive mantras from our heads and replace them with positive expectations and supportive statements.

4.) What is your "mechanism" for interpreting failure? Do you see even the slightest deviation from your plan as a failure? Do you see failure as a simple bump in the road that you will correct as quickly as possible? There is a huge range of possible ways to interpret failure. Which interpretation serves you best in your desire to create the life you want? Which interpretation skews your results negatively? How can you tweak your methods of interpreting failure so that they support you?

5.) Take a long range view of failure. When you’re at the end of your life what will look like failure to you? Will those minor mistakes look like problems in the context of your entire life? It’s more likely that from the end of life viewpoint, real failure will be about having let fear keep you from a fulfilling life and not having lived as you chose. The rest will likely simply seem silly to you then.

6.) Decide that you will see failure differently. Choose to break out of the prison of fear of failure. Consider "failure" to be a common human experience -- not the most fun -- but not a permanent roadblock to success either.

Failure can become a passing "phase". It does not have to define your life or determine your ultimate outcome. Learn from failure and pick yourself back up as soon as you can. It does not have to mean an end to your progress. It can mean the beginning of a whole new expansion.
