Pull The Shoulders Down
Secondly, you also want to think of pulling down the shoulders, decreasing any tension or stress you might be holding. When we tense up, we often put the small tendons and ligaments in our shoulders at risk for strains, which could make it harder to straighten up with our posture down the road if left to progress long enough.
Instead, think of pressing the shoulders down, taking a deep breath while you do so.
Don't Forget To Stretch Often
The next of the posture tips to help you improve your spinal position is to remember to stretch frequently. Stretching is going to help to reduce tension also, and it will lengthen all the muscles in the body, giving you a greater range of motion and preventing the muscles from shortening due to poor posture.
Add to this that after stretching, you'll likely find you are more consciously aware of the posture you're using, and it's simple to see why regular stretching is important.
Assess Your Bed
Finally, the last of these posture tips is to look at and asses your bed. If you are sleeping on a large number of pillows, this could be part of the reason you are becoming cramped up and are not able to maintain proper posture during the day.
